The THORENS/Ortofon SPU 124 is a special version of the legendary Ortofon SPU sound box, which is designed for optimal scanning behaviour in combination with the THORENS TD 124 DD drive and the newly developed TP 124 tonearm. The generator, i.e. the “motor” of the pick-up, has been completely revised and the output voltage has been increased to 0.5mV (5cm/sec). This measure reduces the subsequent amplification of the signal and reduces interference. A highly polished, mass-reduced “naked diamond” with an elliptical cut increases the pickup’s scanning ability
